Building strong relationships

Hello beautiful people of the internet,

Today we’re talking relationships. Relationships are a funny thing, almost like a small child. They need a lot of attention and care. You really do get out of it what you put in. However, it takes two to make it a success.

I’ve definitely had my fair share of bad relationships and have been lucky enough to meet someone pretty special. We’ve had a few bumps in the road along the way but the same advice helps us out every time. So I thought I’d share it with you lovely people.

Talk! Talk, talk, talk. You really do need to talk. A lot of the time people will hold in their feelings and wont tell their partner when something annoys them. Now I’m not talking about your significant other leaving the milk out for the fifth time. I mean something that really affects your relationship and where you see it going.

You cannot blame your partner for not knowing something is an issue, and not acting on it, if you never tell them. By discussing these things  you will not only resolve the situation, but learn to communicate better which will strengthen your relationship.

Secondly, spend time together doing what you like. Your friends may think you should all be going out together, but make sure to give yourselves enough quality time with just the two of you. You will spend your whole life getting to know your partner, it’s almost impossible to know absolutely everything about them, because we change and grow as we get older.

Thirdly, make sure to actually take an interest in what your partner likes. Now you don’t have to love it, but try to look somewhat engaged when they discuss their interests with you. Even better go try it out too! You never know you might actually have fun. At the same time, it is absolutely fine to have different interests. Having that individual time on your own doing something you love, is extremely healthy for your relationship. So go out and find something you’re passionate about. Then share it with your partner. Tell them why you love it and have fun.

Lastly, trust your partner. We all have a little jealousy in us and that’s fine, as long as you don’t let it get out of hand. Your partner may be working long hours or have frequent business trips. But what is the point in being in a relationship with them if you can’t even trust them. Try not to think the worst of them, especially if they have never betrayed your trust before. And if you feel like something is wrong then talk to them. Trust needs to  be in the foundations of your relationship. It’s not always easy but it’s worth it!

So that’s it from me. If you have any specific relationship advice you would like me to cover then feel free to leave a comment down below. Take your time and enjoy your relationship with your partner. Put in the effort and together you will build something amazing!

Oatmeal Cookies

Hello beautiful people of the internet,

Today I had a craving. If you’re a student you know that while you’re revising for exams, you tend to crave pretty much anything and everything to keep you going. Baking is also a great way to procrastinate..maybe a little too good.

I was craving chocolate chip cookies but wanted something a little healthier. So after consulting the all knowing Google, and adding my own twist into it, I came up with these beauties!

You can definitely switch to brown sugar or leave out the chocolate chips and stick with cacao nibs, but I have a sweet tooth!

  • 57g butter
  • 100g sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 70g plain flour
  • 70g oats
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 60g cacao nibs
  • A handful of chocolate chips

So the proper way to do it is to cream the butter and sugar together first. Then add the flour, egg and rest of the ingredients. But me being me I just threw it all into a bowl together and they came out pretty good! Bake them at 190 for 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye on them until they are slightly brown around the edges. Then remove and allow them to cool on a wire rack.

Let me know if you have any great oatmeal cookie recipes, or if you give these a try!

Makeup Essentials

Hello beautiful people of the internet,

Today we’re talking makeup. Not just any makeup. My holy grail products that not even Channing Tatum could make me leave! Okay he probably could..actually he definitely could! But come on, it’s Channing Tatum!

Anyway back to business…

So, I’ve tried and tested many foundations over the years, some have been gs1465327-main-zoomood, some bad but none have compared to this baby. The foundation in question is Estee Lauder’s double wear foundation.

I’m sure you’ve heard many people talking about this because it really is that good! It has great coverage for those days when you need a little boost. It’s not cakey and doesn’t leave you feeling like you’re wearing a ton of makeup. It lasts on me pretty much all day and I rarely need to touch up.

It is a little on the pricey side retailing at £30 but it’s seriously worth it! If you’re unsure, go to your local Debenhams or other beauty store where they will be able to colour match you and give you a sample to try out. It will last for ages! I’ve managed to find mine in a local outlet cosmetics store for £21 which is a bargain! There are plenty of shades too and it’s silicone free which is a bonus for me. I wear the shade Ecru if you’re wondering. Find it here:

Next up we have a little miracle worker that picks me up when my under eye bags are just too heavy to carry. Just kidding..or not. Maybellines under eye eraser it quite possibly a miracle worker in the form of8842653663262 a tiny bottle. It covers up my dark circles effortlessly and leaves me looking refreshed.

It’s pretty good at hiding blemishes too although with the sponge top applicator it might not be the most hygienic. I set it with a little powder and it wont budge all day! It retails at £7.99 which is pretty cheap considering how amazing it is. I wear the shade light which seems to always be sold out! Find it here:

Okay, sSB_C1LC_SKUC1LC20_340o time to set all of this wonderful makeup. I tend to go between two powders depending on how I’m feeling that day. The first one is the Smashbox halo powder which is a little on the pricey side at £31. I love this powder because I literally have to use the smallest amount and it does the job great. I can leave it on all day and it will keep me matte and keep my makeup in place.

Find it here:

I wear the shade light and although it’s pricey it did last me a really long time.

The second powder which I have recently been loving is the Rimmel stay matte powder. This is another popular product Rimmel_Stay_Matte_Pressed_Powder_14g_1366299521_mainin the beauty world and for good reasons too! I use the shade translucent and seriously it keeps me matte all day. It retails at £3.99 which is an absolute bargain! Find it here:

So, I hope you’ve enjoyed a nosey around into my makeup bag because lets be honest, we all love seeing what our friends use. If you have any holy grail products feel free to leave a comment. I’m still searching for that perfect brow product so let a girl know!

What to do after graduating

Hello beautiful people of the internet,

So lets talk about graduation. Graduation is a time of excitement and relief, but also you might be dreading it justtttttt a little bit because it signifies the end of your student lives. This means its time to find a graduate job. Sounds scary right? Don’t worry we got this!

Hopefully you’ve narrowed down what kind of career you’re after. If not don’t worry, your 20’s are all about finding yourself. I’m 23 and still doing just that. Anyway, this point applies to both. Research, research, research. You need to research into the types of roles you’re interested in. Find out exactly what the role involves. What will your daily tasks be? How many hours will you be working? Location? And of course salary!

Now don’t be disheartened if nothing catches your eye straight away. There’s always more graduate jobs being posted online. I’ve found to be pretty helpful, and my uni also has a careers page with postings on too.

So, you’ve found a job that doesn’t sound all that terrifying! What’s next? You need to work on selling yourself and your skills. To do this you need to write a CV and also a cover letter. Don’t worry too much if your degree doesn’t seem to match the job title, you may have skills that are suitable anyway. A cover letter is very important as this is what employers will see first.

Here’s a link where you can download a cover letter template and some tips on what to include:

Try to match your skills with those that the employer is looking for. You need to demonstrate what you have to bring to the table and why you’re the person for the job!

Ok, so now you’ve made an awesome CV and cover letter you’re good to go. Start applying and remember be patient! There are a lot of graduates out there looking for a job so don’t take it personally if you don’t get a call back straight away.

In the mean time relax a little and stay positive. One way to keep busy is networking. is a great way to do just that. Connect with family and friends, find suitable employers and get your name out there. Linkedin allows you to build up a profile with testimonials to your skills which is great for employers to view.

Phew! Ok, so that’s it for now. Don’t worry if everyone seems like they have their lives together, because the truth is most of them are freaking out too. So good luck with you’re job hunt and remember it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t work out. It will all be okay!
